Smoke Switch

(This write up is for Edge Comp Boxes Only!)

Use this write up at your own risk. There is a lot of people that feel poorly in regards to producing modifications to a truck solely for the purpose of creating smoke. If you do create this mod don't use it public view!

There is a lot of diesel owners out there that still want to see smoke even though the price of fuel is heading over $5 bucks a gallon. But to satisfy these owners I decided to do a smoke switch write up and show you how to install one on a Edge Comp module.

MAP sensor plug

Now the above picture shows the pins of a 2002 Dodge connector. But don't take my word for please test for the +5 Volt signal and ground leads on your truck before you do any wiring work!

Now since I've replaced my MAP sensor I got a 2001 MAP sensor and the adapter lead to convert the the 2001 plug over to the 2002 map plug.

So I took advantage of the fact I've got this small adapter cable in between the MAP and the Edge comp wiring. So I tested for the +5 Volt and ground leads so this leave the signal lead that has no effect. Once the signal lead is found just cut the lead and wire in a SPST toggle switch in that line. This will disconnect the signal lead to the Edge Comp causing the Edge Comp to show full boost regardless of what the MAP sensor shows...

Basic wiring for smoke switch
(These are not actual wire colors!)

Now with the switch in the ON position normal MAP sensor reading will be sent to the Edge Comp and normal fueling will occur. With the switch in the OFF position FULL BOOST signal will be sent from the Edge Comp to the ECM and heavy smoke will occur under heavy throttle and low boost.
